Overview:

We are seeking to add to our diverse team of committed food scientist. Our work environment is fast-paced yet informal; we work hard and love what we do.

We are looking for an R&D Food Technologist to focus on the lab/plant execution of halal food products. Project and product involvement will extend from formulation through production-floor test runs and final production start-up acceptance and ongoing manufacturing operations to implement and monitor quality assurance programs to assure that quality, safety, and regulatory compliance standards are met for Halal Certification.

Responsibilities
• Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
• Conducts daily quality checks through the quality evaluation process.
• Records and communicates lab results to the plant management team.
• Performs additional testing and analysis as needed.
• Assists QA Manager in monthly food safety audits of the plant.
• Oversees the non-conforming product program ensuring accurate documentation.
• Ensures that all testing equipment is calibrated and in working order.
• Ensures department tasks are done accurately and in a safe, timely fashion.
• Coordinate and organize all documentation for third party audits and business reviews.
• Oversee retain samples and packaging materials testing. Facilitate packaging materials trials
• Oversee customer compliance website
• Lead other projects as assigned
• Help in Evaluating halal applications for new items and conduct periodic reviews of the halal system
• Maintain inspection records and reports Qualifications
• College degree in food science, chemical engineering or a related field or Two – five years of quality assurance or high speed manufacturing experience, or a combination of both.
• Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, make recommendations, draw conclusions and communicate effectively.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently. Organized and able to handle multiple tasks. Self-directed, able to work autonomously.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Excellent people skills, including listening skills, and can work with all levels of staff. Team-oriented attitude.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to uphold Scan Halal’s quality standards.
• Ability to analyze data and make recommendations on system and process improvement.
• Intermediate / advanced skills in Microsoft Word, and Excel. Willingness to learn new software programs as needed.

• Assist with general office coordination, management and upkeep
• Handle customer service emails/calls as needed
• Welcoming guests, offering snacks and drinks and making them feel comfortable as possible.
• Preparation of conference room photocopying sending and receiving faxes
• Professional phone skills (voice reply, call routing, voice mail and recording) Internet research as needed
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel)
